Mid-Summer at Timber Wolf Lodge

We are just past mid-summer at Timber Wolf Lodge.  It seems like just yesterday that we were posting pictures of the ice going out and opening the cabins for the first time.  Just like 80 summers before this one, it goes quickly when you are spending time surrounded by great people in an amazing place.

Mid-summer at Timber Wolf Lodge

A Few Images

Even though we are in full swing, days still start a little slower for our guests while up north.  (Except the die-hard anglers out at dawn, of course.)  We captured these images a few days ago before the Lodge came alive for the day with activity

Mid-Summer Boats at the ready.

The boats are always at the ready here.  Whether they’re ours or the guests, it only takes a minute to untie, launch and get out on the lake.  Smallmouth and walleye fishing continue to be strong this summer and there have been a number of very impressive Northerns taken by guests. (Plus, in the off chance they aren’t biting, you are still in a boat and on the water, not replying to an e-mail or sitting in a boring meeting.)

Mid-summer guests

If you’ve never seen this it is one of our favorite traditions.  Guests get a board to decorate and then we hang it.  These signs represent so many memories for families, friends, and staff.  We LOVE the creativity people show in making these.

Mid-summer Camper

Our seasonal RV guests really help build the sense of community.  New visitors are always a bit surprised by how close we all are at Timber Wolf Lodge.  Our RV guests are one of the reasons for that.  Many return year after year and decorate their space to make their home.  We love it.

Mid-summer fishhouse

If you’ve ever caught a fish on Bear Island Lake and brought it back to shore, you’ve passed by this sign on your way to clean it.  This is a favorite spot for guests to take pictures, with fish and without. If you happen to follow us on Instagram, you’ve definitely seen this sign play an important role.

As we get ready to get into the second half of our season, we want to thank the people who have made their way here already this year. We also want to say we miss those of you who aren’t going to be able to make it and encourage those of you looking to get away to book your trip soon.

Located on Bear Island LakeTimber Wolf Lodge is one of the oldest and most popular resorts in the Ely, Minnesota area.  We feature cabins and a Good Sam certified RV campground.
