Guided Tours

Jim Orcutt’s Guided Fishing Trips

Do you want to get a pro’s jump on Bear Island Lake?  Or maybe you want to explore one of our Boundary Water Lakes.  In either case, Jim is your guide!  He will meet with you and your party the evening before your guided expedition and will listen carefully to what you want.  You will then make plans for the following day.  Once you arrive at your destination lake – whether that be Bear Island Lake or another – Jim’s boat will be stocked with everything you and your fishing party need for a day on the lake.

You will chose from ½ day or full-day packages.  And for full-day excursions you can order Jim’s fantastic Shore Lunch Package.  Yep – you’ll eat whatever you caught that morning and take a break from the action.  Then it’s back on the boat to knock out the remainder of the afternoon.

Jim’s favorite memories as a guide range from his father/son trips when the child lands his first keeper to the times that he provides a guided experience for our more mature guests that finally get to cross “take a guided fishing trip in the Boundary Waters” off of their bucket list!

½ day trips (4 hours) are $225 for 1 or 2 guests.  Additional guests are $25 per.
Full day trips (8 hours are $375 for 1 or 2 guests.  Additional guests are $50 per.
Add Shore Lunch at a cost of $30 for 1 or 2 guests.  Additional guests are $5 per.

Timber Wolf Adventures–Kawishiwi Falls Trail

Join our staff for a free guided round-trip nature hike into majestic Kawishiwi Falls – one of the largest in Ely, MN.  The path is relatively easy and can be extended to include the portage trail between Garden and Fall Lakes. The round trip hike is under two miles and some of our guests chose to pack a picnic basket and swim at the nearby Fall Lake beach.  We encourage you to bring a snack and drinks for your family and don’t forget your camera and binoculars; the waterfalls are beautiful. Adventurous jumpers can be seen along the cliff ledges that jut out from 3 to 20 feet above the surface of these waters.  The watershed drains from the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) and flows 2,000 miles north to Hudson Bay.

Timber Wolf Adventures – Sunset Cruise

Our sunset cruises have become a real favorite of our guests. It acquaints you with Bear Island Lake. Any time possible we swing by one or more of the nesting bald eagle sites, hoping to see these majestic creatures. This is a laid-back cruise, which brings us to the center of Bear Island Lake just a few moments before another glorious sunset.

Plan to bring a beverage, a blanket and a camera. Capture some great photos with your family during this cruise. Your Facebook friends will love it.
