Timber Wolf Lodge has invited Van Air Pilots Bud & Irene Van Deusen to pick up our guests dock-side here this year.  Yes, Van Air’s Cessna Floatplanes will land on Bear Island Lake, park at our dock and load our passengers for a 20 or 60 minute flight of the region of for a once-in-a-lifetime flight to the Canadian border for dinner at Nelson’s Restaurant on Crane Lake!  The pilots will conduct a short orientation at our dock and equip each of you with headsets so that you can communicate with Bud & Irene throughout the flight.

Once aboard everyone gets a window seat.  Then prepare for the exhilaration of takeoff from Bear Island Lake.  You will maintain an altitude that enhances your aerial view of the beautiful Arrowhead and Quetico Regions!   Moose and other large wildlife sightings are a fairly regular occurrence with Bud & Irene.  Bring your camera!

Van Air’s popular Dinner with a Flair includes dock-side pick-up at Timber Wolf Lodge followed by a flight to the ever-popular Nelson’s Restaurant on Crane Lake.  Nelson’s cradles the U.S. and Canadian border.   Van Air guests use this service as a unique way to celebrate a birthday or anniversary or as a once-in-a-lifetime gift from mom and dad to their children.

20 minute flights are $55 per person and $45 for 10 or under when accompanied by an adult.  There is a minimum of $165 per flight and a maximum of 5 passenger per flight.

60 minute flights are $330 for a party of 3 and $360 for a party of 5.

Dinner with a Flare is $355 for a party of 3 and $385 for a party of 5 (cost of dinner not included).
